Modernisation

St David's Shopping Centre will begin an exciting new modernisation project in Summer 2007 that will create an even better retail experience and new-and-improved facilities for our customers.

The future of St. David's

As well as creating a modern, cutting-edge look with state-of-the-art flooring, lighting and wall coverings, the shopping centre will also be undergoing work to link it to Cardiff's new £625m St David's 2 development over the next two years. When completed in Autumn 2009, they will together form one of the UK's largest shopping centres with over 180 shops and over 1.4 million square feet of retail space (that's equivalent to 30 football pitches!)

Main contractor 'Bovis Lend Lease' have been appointed and have a wealth of experience and expertise. All work on the shopping centre will be carried out in stages and out of shopping hours to ensure minimum disruption to our customers at all times.

The first phase of the refurbishment has seen the closure of Town Wall South, which leads onto Hill Street and this has been closed to allow for construction work for 'St David's 2' to begin. Main works will commence in August 2007 until Easter 2009 and this will involve the demolition and reconstruction of Town Wall South and phased refurbishment of all the other mall areas.

Once completed in 2009, St David's Shopping Centre will be fully linked to 'St David's 2' via a glass bridge at the rear of Debenhams, creating one of Europe's most exciting and contemporary retail experiences.
